#MarathaSilentProtests My take

25th September 2016 was the day when Maratha Silent Protest happened at Pune.

I went, and here’s why..
It is about solidarity. Nothing principally wrong being demanded, not to fall in would be incorrect. If a flawed system exists,we intend to mold in accordingly.
The wrongful incident happened at Kopardi, Nagar it may be well imprinted in our minds that such shall not be tolerated.
Reservation benefit not for us, but yes for each of my brother in villages who intends to learn
It is no political party to lead. It has been some maratha sangathanas together it is thus about not being led by a carrot.
Over all others it was solidarity with my fellow brothers and sisters that was a magnet.

Who/What of Maratha’s as i know it
Maratha’s are the Kshatriya’s (Warriors) historically having lead in multiple cases of having turned over the atrocious Mughal reign and having brought in ‘Hindavi Swarajya’ (which literally translates to ‘Self-rule of Hindu People’) The setup of Swarajya well included better positioning and inclusion of all sects of the society.
When war became a less daily affair, Marathas continued to tend to the soil and Farming was then the main occupation coupled with side businesses until a few decade ago. As generations passed and land owned by the family stayed as is, land portions with further divided families became increasingly small, thus now it was Subsistence farming in most cases. But with subsistence all is never well. The Farmers Son/Daughter by then had to choose to get to learning better, finding a job, get down to a business and growing above subsistence. Many  have succeeded in that, yet there remain many who have not been able to take the alternative route, some opted to stay with farming. All of this he and she have fought on their own likes, no aids when drought visits nor when excess rains washes the standing crops. A year full of misery stands in front. Recently there have been many of these. People choosing it to be convenient to leave the world permanently then face, again by their own likes.
This is again without any expectation of aid, quota benefit and so on.
So should we not revisit where the system failed and led to victimizing of the larger sects? Yes!

An example to highlight the current situation: In a classic scenario of two students getting  140 and 180 marks in the medical entrance and the former getting seat in a premier institution with half the fees to pay while the later stands outside the gate only because she is a Maratha, the farmers daughter.She then has the option of paying donation in lakhs to get a seat to seat along the former but then she cannot,she is a farmers daughter. Subsistence. Should it not count here that the former’s drove in with her father to seek admission in a 30 lakh SUV, and yet superseded the farmers daughter because the system designed for equality enabling has grown redundant and works in complete favor of . And yet with such workforce around India dreams to be a superpower by 2020 (4 years hence?) Well then in such cases let the records say that we have no doubt in asking for the category if it leads to a wanting person getting justice.

What is that you intend to address by gathering by lakhs in our home cities?
We are already everywhere. Where would we go?🙂 Its ours forefathers place. We are here to stay.
Taking to the streets is no requirement when you are the majority with around 30 odd percentage of the total population in the state. You just cannot be unheard of. But It is no harm starting the morning walk a bit late when you know it can be done utter peacefully.

Why ‘One and all’ is abiding by coming down to the streets?
What has been the point of origin of the (Peaceful) events that followed?
What happened at Kopardi has happened at multiple places in India over the last few years. But then it cannot be just let gone. It is about telling we stand by the family and there is zero tolerance about such occurrences around. It also helps the youth understand this such acts are inhumane and shall not be stood by.
Also there are many instances we hear about say ‘Fender bender’ fights landing you in prison not because u bend the fender but one of the parties played the attoricties card. If you think this is fair. Read no further. let be. Again no one is saying do away with the law, maybe tweak it to be used justly, or create awareness about its true use.

Do we really need reservation?
Don’t need it; wont use it. But someone at the village definitely needs it. So as long as there is no Income based upliftment system, YES.

How deep laid is the Vote-bank game here?
Don’t know but know we wont budge. And they Know it.
If a few walking SILENTLY down the road can evoke what it does, then imagination of the aftereffects of when same few are angered by inaction or mischievous poking is the answer to the ill-wishers.

Who is the organizing these and what will lead to?
No political party for sure. It is some neutral Maratha Samaj organizations
It should definitely lead to the better of the society at large. Exaggeration? No,
How about dismissal of the inequality provoking  caste system,
How about SAMAN NAAGRI KAAYDA?
How about Income based benefit policies?
How about a society where Rape is non tolerable?
How about a law where the real deprived is given a helping hand, and miscreants are restrained?
How about a better India?

Are you liable to pay tax?
^Seems a nonsense question..
Rephrase it to “What is the underlying that a citizen is required to pay tax to its governers?”
And it would make much sense..
Ever pondered?

> Assumed that maybe it is the tax we pay for being born in India?
> Or would it be because you earn income in my own motherland??

The best/closest would be Tax is the payment to be made to the government/system to enable it to provide the basic necessary services to its citizens such that to help sustain human life.

Prakash Jha interprets the same as We the citizens are clients of the government for the services it provides in running the system; the government has its right as to consideration for the service it renders?
Where are the services then??
Ok, so how relevent is the preached thought in day-to-day transactions!? You commute to your workplace each day and are held back by the traffic jams. Could these issues not have been perceived of by the mumbo jumbo of planning world?,Infrastructure development,etc? But then when you/your kin earlier paid tax the development was the purpose of the payments made..count the same for visits to Government offices, the kharcha pani was never required coz we paid taxes.
What actually happened over the period, intended surpluses were generated,money was routed to be accumulated for personal good. All this from TAx payers Money,all collected authoritatively with an object of Development & betterment of the Nation but ultimately sourced into swiss holes of the playful politicians. The More id continue to abide by the 30-50% tax regime,much wealth would be ready for loot.

A story of destructive governance

 

First, the UPA came for the roads sector. They destroyed contracting. They slowed down road construction. They left highways half built. We did not speak out. After all, the only reason the NDA could have started the golden quadrilateral is because they wanted to spread Hindutva.

Next, they came for the airline sector. They let Air India suck more money from taxpayers. They let bad regulation destroy the private sector. They let crony banking sustain bad bets. They ensured India would never be an aviation hub. We did not speak out. After all, flying is what birds do, not humans. Besides, aviation is bad for climate change.

Then they came for the power sector. They confused creation of mega capacities with actual generation. They had no rational pricing plans. They were arbitrary in the awarding of licences. They could not make up their mind whether they wanted to protect the environment or destroy it. We did not speak out. After all, the only power that matters is political. Electricity be damned.

Then they came for education. They promulgated the RTE after 100 per cent enrolment. They expanded capacity, but cut-offs still rose. They regulated in such a way that there was a glut in some subjects and a shortage in others. They confused university buildings with building universities. We did not speak out. After all our, our low quality education left us incapable of speaking out.

Then they came for industry. They turned the clock back in every way and waged open war. Ensure that regulations become more complex and uncertain. Ensure that input costs rise. Ensure crummy infrastructure. Promulgate a land scam policy known as SEZ and sell it as industrial policy. They encouraged FDI. But they forgot which one they wanted: outbound or inbound. But we did not speak out. After all, India is a rural country.
hen they came for employment. There was some growth. But they decided that the only good employment is that which has the hand of the state. So the NREGA’s expansion was seen as a sign of success, not failure. By its own logic, if more people need the NREGA, the economy has failed. But we did not speak out. After all, the more people we have dependent on government, the more we think it is a good government.

Then they came for agriculture. First, they create artificial shortages through irrigation scams. Then they have a myopic policy for technology adoption. Then they decide India shall remain largely a wheat and rice economy; we will have shortages for everything else. Then they price everything to produce perverse incentives. But we did not speak out. After all, why worry about food production when the government is giving you a legal right? Is there anything more reassuring than social policy designed by and for lawyers?

Then they came for institutions. They always had. This has been Congress DNA for four decades. They drew up a list of institutions that remained unscathed: Parliament, the IB, bureaucracy and you name it. They then went after those. They used institutions as instruments of their political design. They demoralised every single branch of government. But we did not speak out. After all, this was reform by stealth. Destroy government from within.

Then they came for inflation. They confused a GDP target of 10 per cent with an inflation target. Inflation will come down next quarter, we were told. Then they tried to buy us out. Inflation: no problem. Simply get the government to spend even more. Then they pretended inflation is a problem for the rich. Then they simply stopped talking about it. We did not speak out. After all, for some, inflation is just a number

Then they came for the telecom sector. They got greedy and milked it. They got arbitrary and retrospectively taxed it. But we did not speak out. After all, new communication can be a threat to government. Besides, we can always revert to fixed lines. More digging is good.

Then they came for financial stability. They produced a large deficit. They brought the current account deficit close to an unsustainable point. They nearly wrecked the banking sector. They created every macro-economic instability you can imagine, which makes investment difficult. But we did not speak out. After all, what would you rather have: macro economic stability or a free lunch?

Then they came for regulation. It was back to the 1970s. More arbitrary regulation is good. More rules are good. Uncertainty makes business more adept. The answer to every administrative problem is enacting a new law. Multiple regulators are good because they represent the diversity of India. We did not speak out. After all, just like the religious confuse piety with mere ritual, the virtuous confuse regulation with outcomes.

Then they came after freedom. They promulgated more restrictive rules for everything: freedom of expression, right to assembly and protest, foreign scholars. They used sedition laws. They kept the architecture of colonial laws intact. They said they stood against communal forces. But then they let Digvijaya Singh keep the communal pot boiling. They matched BJP’s communal politicisation of terrorism at every step and then some. We did not speak out. After all, if they are not Hindutva forces, they cannot be a threat to peace and liberty.

Then they came for virtue itself. They preached, from the very summit of power: avoid responsibility. It will always be someone else’s fault. They legitimised being corrupt: you are entitled to it if you are the party of the poor. They encouraged subterfuge to the point that members of the cabinet were subverting each other. They pretended that integrity is a word that does not mean anything. To independent thinkers, they said: why think when there is 10 Janpath? We did not speak out. After all, virtue and thinking can both be outsourced.

Then they came for the poor. They visited their houses and slept in their homes. They liked the experience so much they decided to become growth sceptics. Enact policies that keep India in poverty a little longer. But we did not speak out. After all, once the poor have been used as an argument, all else is immobilised.

Then they came for the citizens. They used the secularism blackmail to reduce our choices. If you are not with us you are evil they said. Then they infantilised us. You are not capable of exercising choices so we will make them for you. They acted as if we were so stupid that the three topmost leaders felt no need to justify themselves to us. But we did not speak out. After all we do have the vote.

Why & How of loving & being Hindu

A Hindu was flying from JFK New York Airport to SFO San Francisco Airport CA to attend a meeting at Monterey, CA.

An American girl was sitting on the right side, near window seat. It indeed was a long journey – it would take nearly seven hours.

He was surprised to see the young girl reading a Bible unusual of young Americans. After some time she smiled and we had few acquaintances talk.He told her that I am from India

Then suddenly the girl asked: ‘What’s your faith?’ ‘What?’ He didn’t understand the question.

‘I mean, what’s your religion? Are you a Christian? Or a Muslim?’

‘No!’ He replied, ‘He am neither Christian nor Muslim’.

Apparently she appeared shocked to listen to that. ‘Then who are you?’ “I am a Hindu”, He said.

She looked at him as if she was seeing a caged animal. She could not understand what He was talking about.

A common man in Europe or US knows about Christianity and Islam, as they are the leading religions of the world today.

But a Hindu, what?

He explained to her – I am born to a Hindu father and Hindu mother. Therefore, I am a Hindu by birth.

‘Who is your prophet?’ she asked.

‘We don’t have a prophet,’ He replied.

‘What’s your Holy Book?’

‘We don’t have a single Holy Book, but we have hundreds and thousands of philosophical and sacred scriptures,’
He replied.

‘Oh, come on at least tell me who is your God?’

‘What do you mean by that?’

‘Like we have Jesus and Muslims have Allah – don’t you have a God?’

He thought for a moment. Muslims and Christians believe one God (Male God) who created the world and takes an interest in the humans who inhabit it. Her mind is conditioned with that kind of belief.

According to her (or anybody who doesn’t know about Hinduism), a religion needs to have one Prophet, one Holy book and one God. The mind is so conditioned and rigidly narrowed down to such a notion that anything else is not acceptable. He understood her perception and concept about faith. You can’t compare Hinduism with any of the present leading religions where you have to believe in one concept of God.

He tried to explain to her: ‘You can believe in one God and he can be a Hindu. You may believe in multiple deities and still you can be a Hindu. What’s more – you may not believe in God at all, still you can be a Hindu. An Atheist can also be a Hindu.’

This sounded very crazy to her. She couldn’t imagine a religion so unorganized, still surviving for thousands of years, even after onslaught from foreign forces.

‘I don’t understand but it seems very interesting. Are you religious?’

What can He tell to this American girl?

He said: ‘I do not go to Temple regularly. I do not make any regular rituals. I have learned some of the rituals in my younger days. I still enjoy doing it sometimes’.

‘Enjoy? Are you not afraid of God?’

‘God is a friend. No- I am not afraid of God. Nobody has made any compulsions on me to perform these rituals regularly.’

She thought for a while and then asked: ‘Have you ever thought of converting to any other religion?’

‘Why should I? Even if I challenge some of the rituals and faith in Hinduism, nobody can convert me from Hinduism. Because, being a Hindu allows me to think independently and objectively, without conditioning. I remain as a Hindu never by force, but choice.’ He told her that Hinduism is not a religion, but a set of beliefs and practices. It is not a religion like Christianity or Islam because it is not founded by any one person or does not have an organized controlling body like the Church or the Order, I added. There is no institution or authority..

‘So, you don’t believe in God?’ she wanted everything in black and white.

‘I didn’t say that. I do not discard the divine reality. Our scripture, or Sruthis or Smrithis – Vedas and Upanishads or the Gita – say God might be there or he might not be there. But we pray to that supreme abstract authority (Para Brahma) that is the creator of this universe.’

‘Why can’t you believe in one personal God?’

‘We have a concept – abstract – not a personal god. The concept or notion of a personal God, hiding behind the clouds of secrecy, telling us irrational stories through few men whom he sends as messengers, demanding us to worship him or punish us, does not make sense. I don’t think that God is as silly as an autocratic emperor who wants others to respect him or fear him.’ He told her that such notions are just fancies of less educated human imagination and fallacies, adding that generally ethnic religious practitioners in Hinduism believe in personal Gods. The entry level Hinduism has over-whelming superstitions too. The philosophical side of Hinduism negates all superstitions.

‘Good that you agree God might exist. You told that you pray. What is your prayer then?’

‘Loka Samastha Sukino Bhavantu. Om Shanti, Shanti, Shanti,’
लोका समस्ता सुखिनो भवन्तु !!! ॐ शान्तिः शान्तिः शान्तिः !!!

‘Funny,’ she laughed, ‘What does it mean?’

‘May all the beings in all the worlds be happy. Let there be Peace, Peace,and Peace every where.’

‘Hmm ..very interesting. I want to learn more about this religion. It is so democratic, broad-minded and free’ she exclaimed.

‘The fact is Hinduism is a religion of the individual, for the individual and by the individual with its roots in the Vedas and the Bhagavad-Gita. It is all about an individual approaching a personal God in an individual way according to his temperament and inner evolution – it is as simple as that.’

‘How does anybody convert to Hinduism?’

‘Nobody can convert you to Hinduism, because it is not a religion, but it is a Culture, a way of leaving life, a set of beliefs and practices. Everything is acceptable in Hinduism because there is no single Authority or Organization either to accept you or to reject you or to oppose you on behalf of Hinduism.’

He told her – if you look for meaning in life, don’t look for it in religions; don’t go from one cult to another or from one Guru to the next.

For a real seeker, He told her, the Bible itself gives guidelines when it says ‘ Kingdom of God is within you.’ I reminded her of Christ’s teaching about the love that we have for each other. That is where you can find the meaning of life.

Loving each and every creation of the God is absolute and real. ‘Isavasyam idam sarvam’ Isam (the God) is present (inhabits) here everywhere – nothing exists separate from the God, because God is present everywhere. Respect every living being and non-living things as God. That’s what Hinduism teaches you.

Hinduism is referred to as Sanathana Dharma, the eternal faith. It is based on the practice of Dharma, the code of life. The most important aspect of Hinduism is being truthful to oneself. Hinduism has no monopoly on ideas. It is open to all. Hindus believe in one God (not a personal one) expressed in different forms. For them, God is timeless and formless entity.

Ancestors of today’s Hindus believe in eternal truths and cosmic laws and these truths are opened to anyone who seeks them. But there is a section of Hindus who are either superstitious or turned fanatic to make this an organized religion like others. The British coin the word ‘Hindu’ and considered it as a religion.

He said: ‘Religions have become an MLM (multi-level- marketing) industry that has been trying to expand the market share by conversion. The biggest business in today’s world is Spirituality. Hinduism is no exception’

He said “I am a Hindu primarily because it professes Non-violence – ‘Ahimsa Paramo Dharma’ means – Non violence is the highest duty. I am a Hindu because it doesn’t condition my mind with any faith system.

A man/woman who changes his/her birth religion to another religion is a fake and does not value his/her morals, culture and values in life.

Hinduism is the original rather a natural yet a logical and satisfying spiritual, personal and a scientific way of leaving a life..

आम्हाला पुणे का आवडते..? आमच्या कडे मुद्दाम मराठीत बोला म्हणून कधी सांगावे लागत नाही, True freedom of thoughts , म्हणून प्रत्येक जण आपले स्वतः चे मत मांडू शकतो, आणि ते सुद्धा सर्वांना पटेल अशा पद्धतीने , पुण्यात काही उणे नाही व

Ive always been confused between choosing a forum,Group-political,nonpolitical.. Little orators & real do’ers exist around us with rock solid agendas & a equally strong will to enable a better livelihood for us all around & stand true to their promises.

Amidst the dilemma of choosing to stand by a political party,has bee shivsena,for the many reason ive heard & seen them at work with the able Guidance of the founder Shri Balasaheb Thakrey. As has been a yearly routine with Shivsena,Dasera melava(the Annual gathering of Shivsena) stood the test of lacs of ppl occupying Shivaji park for the last 46 odd years only to hear Bal Thakrey guide them.

This year however was distinguished with the non-presence of Bal thakrey,the video message broadcasted during the meeting though. The leader is always looked 4wd to owing to his Straight forwardness,pro-Marathi-Hinduism in true sense. The Video showed the 86year old Man speaking his heart out about the regret of not being in the pink of health 7 hence inability to attend the meet.his views of the ongoing Scam-Streams & what of what. All convincing in sharp hardhitting words as always.

The once (& even now) Charismatic Leader-Orator talked way to above par for his Age,yet leaving his lakhs of followers in the moment of sadness as he described his falling health & in a way bid a Good bye to his  fans calling for support & loyalty from the people around for the work done.Way to emotional & touching for much of the Rightists for the support to enable the religion thrive amidst the Votebankers during the bad times created by anti-socialists & many more reasons. No (no cases filed,no allegations, existing) involvement in Scams being a prominent one therein.

MVAT/Sales tax registration procedure walkthrough

We all encounter Situations which require a Careful adherence to the Statutory requirements in order to get required registrations/meet timely & orderly compliance’s of Statutes affecting us. Starting a series on write-ups of the statutory bumps I encounter during the course of daily Business. These Walkthroughs are aimed at help the interested gain a basic insight of what would be the position when one intends to comply applicable statutory requirements.

  This information is intended to help form initial view of the required & may be prone to errors.

MVAT/Sales Tax registration.

a) Registration is required by,

1. Mandatory registration: Where the Sales turnover from 1st April of the year first crosses Rs.5,00,000/- and value of taxable goods sold or purchased by him during the year is not less than Rs.10,000/-

2.Voluntary registration:Any person may apply for voluntary registration by depositing Rs.25,000/- towards taxes in advance.This amount shall be adjusted against taxes payable by him during the year. Any amount of advance not adjusted during the year will be refunded back to the Dealer.[A person desirous of Issuing VAT Invoice for seeking input Vat credit may opt for this scheme]

b) Registration Required?Apply within..

Person requiring to be registered mandatorily must apply within 30 days from the day on which his turnover crosses the specified limit. The successor or assignee of the business must apply within 60 days of the date of preceding registered dealer or within 60 days of transfer of business.  An applicant has and can to collect taxes from purchaser as soon has he crosses the specified limit. He need not to wait for making application and allotment of registration number. After the registration number, also called TIN (Taxpayers Identification Number) is allotted he has to file periodic return of sale and deposit the amount of tax collected/payable along with the Challan.

c) Procedure Apply on the mahavat website via e-registration [ All application for Registration in Form 101 shall be made online at mahavat website. Online application have to be made after 1-10-2009. Paper application will not be accepted after this date]  MVAT WEBSITE

The Details:

The applicant : The application for registration to be signed by :

1.Proprietary Business: Proprietor

2.Partnership firm : Any partner

3. Company : Any Director/Manager/Authorized person

4. HUF : Karta of HUF

Fees Payable: Fee to be paid in challan No.210 to any nominated Nationalized Banks.

Registration Fee : Rs. 500/- (For Regular Registration)

: Rs.5000/ (For Voluntary Registration)

Deposit : Rs. Nil (For Regular Registration)

: Rs.25000/-(For Voluntary Registration)

Documents required :

1. Proof of PAN i.e Copy of Income Tax Assessment Order having PAN mentioned on it or copy of PAN card. In case of Proprietary business, PAN of Proprietor is required ; in case of partnership business,: PAN of partnership firm and of all partners is required,

2. Two latest Passport sized Photographs of the Applicant

3. Demand Draft for payment of Registration Fees and deposit of advance sales-tax in case of voluntary registration, demand draft shall be in name of “State Bank of India A/c. MVAT” and payable at respective location. The demand draft for registration shall be for Rs.500/- in case of Mandatory registration and for Rs.5,000/- in case of Voluntary Registration. Deposit for voluntary registration is Rs.25,000/-

4.Application must be in business name even for proprietary business

5.Leaf of cancelled cheque as proof of Bank Account.

6.Proof of constitution of business, like Copy of partnership deed in case of partnership firm, Copy of Memorandum of Association and Articles of Association in case of company and in case of other persons necessary document of formation/constitution.[No proof required for proprietary business]

7.Proof of permanent residential address : at-least any two of the following

a. Copy of ration card,

b. Copy of passport,

c. Copy of driving licence,

d. Copy of election photo identity card,

e. Copy of property card or latest receipt of property tax of Municipal Corporation / Council / Gram-panchayat as the case may be,

f. Copy of latest paid electricity bill in the name of the applicant. In case of partnership firm, proof of residence has to be provided for all partners shall be required and  in case of body corporate, proof of residence of applicant shall be only required.

8. Proof of place of business :

a) In case of ownership premises, Proof of ownership of premises, viz. copy of property card or ownership deed or agreement with the builder or any other relevant documents.

b) In case of tenant / sub-tenant : Proof of tenancy / sub tenancy like copy of tenancy agreement or rent receipt or leave and licence or consent letter, etc

9. Statement of Turnover in case of mandatory registration,

10. Introduction from either,

a.Chartered accountant,

b..Other MVAT registered dealer who is holding valid registration certificate continuously for five year,

c Advocate,

d.cost accountant.

e.Sales Tax Practitioner
